During the following two weeks students will be preparing in class for their Mid term exams. Students should be studying for their exams at home as well. The following is the schedule for the exams: Thursday 1/10/13 Periods 1 & 2
Friday 1/11/13 Periods 6 & 7
Monday 1/14/13 Periods 3 & 4
Tuesday 1/15/13 Period 5
**Note Thursday Friday and Monday schedule will include a half day for students. Tuesday 1/15/13 will be a full day for students.

Essay Contest
Extra Credit: 2nd Marking Period DUE January 7th, 2013
(Your submission may be entered into the National Competition).
What to do:
- Interview an older person over 50 years (cannot be a parent but other relatives are ok)
- Ask them about their hopes and goals through their life, how they achieved goals and overcame obstacles, or how dreams may have changed along the way.
- Feature a significant life experience – it may be big or small, but it has to mean something to the person being interviewed.
- What life advice can the older person share?
- On your own, write a 300-word essay (maximum) based on the interview.
Typed
Include:
your name, age, and location.
The name, age, location, and relation of the person you interviewed.

- Please note, the deadline for the contest is March; however, to be eligible for extra credit, you must submit (hard copy or email) to Mrs. Dougherty-Wade by January 7th.
